Alexandre Lacazette “is a perfect fit” for Arsenal – Charlie Nicholas

Arsenal‘s signing of striker Alexandre Lacazette is a “statement of intent”, according to Charlie Nicholas.
The France international became the north London outfit’s record signing when his initial £46.5million – which could rise to £52million – move from Ligue 1 side Lyon was officially completed on Wednesday evening.
It’s a deal which has triggered a great deal of optimism from large sections of Gunners supporters and Nicholas – a former Arsenal player himself – believes this signing should have taken place in the summer of 2014.
“He is at a prime age now to look to hit the ground running at Arsenal,” Nicholas told Sky Sports News HQ.
“They should have tried to get him three years ago.
“Arsenal needed a guy who’s intelligent, his movement is good, he’s got good speed and he doesn’t always have to go and be an old-fashioned number nine.
“He will want to try and improve on his own reputation. I really do think he is a perfect fit.”
A clinical striker when presented with an opportunity in front of goal, the 26-year-old was the second top scorer in Ligue 1 last season after netting goals in 30 appearances – seven fewer than Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani.

Lacazette will have the chance to impress during the Gunners’ pre-season tour of Australia next week while his much-anticipated Premier League debut could come on August 11 when the 2017/18 campaign gets underway at the Emirates Stadium with Leicester City the visitors.
