Arsene Wenger puts date on Alexandre Lacazette’s first game for Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that club record signing Alexandre Lacazette will make his debut in Thursday’s friendly against Sydney FC.
Lacazette completed his move to the Gunners from Lyon last week for an initial fee of £45 million and the striker is currently in Australia for pre-season with the Arsenal squad.
Wenger disclosed that Lacazette will play some part against Sydney FC and also stated that the France international will feature in the next friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday.
As reported by the club’s official website, Wenger said: “Lacazette will make his debut here yes. “On Thursday night he will certainly play a part in the game and in the other game as well. In the two games he will take part.”
Arsenal will hope that Lacazette, who has been given the number nine shirt, will be able to make an instant impact as they look to get their pre-season preparations off to a positive start.
Lacazette scored 27 goals in Ligue 1 last season and if he was to replicate that tally in the Premier League it would surely boost Arsenal’s chances of winning the title.
The other major arrival at Arsenal so far this summer has been that of Sead Kolasinac, with the left-back having joined on a free transfer after leaving Schalke.
Wenger welcomed the signing of Kolasinac, stating that both he and Lacazette are “great additions.”
Wenger said: “We play football based on movement – I believe both can integrate well into the team.
“I believe they are great additions to the team. This is a good opportunity to get a first look at them.”
After leaving Australia, the next stop on Arsenal’s pre-season tour is China, where they will face Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
