Ex-Barcelona Jeremy Mathieu spotted on trial with Sporting Lisbon

Sporting Lisbon have taken Jeremy Mathieu on trial from Barcelona.
The French defender was pictured in action with Sporting Lisbon’s pre-season today despite no official confirmation.
The clubs have negotiated an early release to allow the 33-year-old a trial before a permanent deal to cut short his contract, which was set to expire in 2018.
A statement released by the club said last week: “FC Barcelona has granted permission for defender Jeremy Mathieu to train on a trial basis during his holidays with Sporting Club de Portugal.”
Former Real Madrid left-back, who joined Sporting on a season-long loan deal on Wednesday, was spotted alongside him.
Mathieu made 13 La Liga appearances last season and won 46 per cent of his overall duels, registered a passing accuracy of 88 per cent and scored one goal.
During his time at Barcelona, the former Valencia man amassed 91 games, four goals and three assists.
Sporting finished 12 points behind league winners Benfica in third place last season but have been busy in the market already.
The club have so far brought in eight players this summer window; Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Piccini, Leandro Ruiz, Andre Pinto, Rodrigo Battaglia, Mattheus, Seydou Doumbia and Coentrao have all joined.
