“I don’t know” – Radja Nainggolan fears the worst as Kevin Strootman calls for end to Roma departures

Radja Nainggolan has suggested that he fears the worst after Kevin Strootman stressed that he hopes Antonio Rudiger is the last player to leave Roma this summer.

Defender Rudiger completed his move to Premier League champions Chelsea today for an initial fee of £29 million, while Mohamed Salah and Leandro Paredes have left for Liverpool and Zenit St. Petersburg respectively and the legendary Francesco Totti has also departed.

Strootman wrote on Instagram: “Good luck to my bro @toniruediger at his new club.

“I’m gonna miss our fights in the training sessions and our discussions in the dressingroom. But especially we are gonna miss you on the pitch.

“Ps I hope that this will be the last goodbye of this summer.”

However, Nainggolan replied saying: “I don’t know.”

Meanwhile, now-Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Salah also joined in with his comment: “The time for Radja now.”

Kevin Strootman attempted 1,974 passes in Serie A last season.

It appears that Nainggolan’s fears about further departures may be well placed, with defender Mario Rui set to seal a switch to Napoli next week.

Roma finished in second place in Serie A last season, four points adrift of champions Juventus, but new manager Eusebio Di Francesco will face a tough task attempting to replicate that feat next campaign.

There have, however, been some arrivals at Roma this summer, with Hector Moreno, Maxime Gonalons, Rick Karsdorp and Lorenzo Pellegrini all joining the club. Further arrivals will surely be needed to compensate for the growing list of departures.
