“I’ve always admired Dani Alves and Cafu”, says new AC Milan right-back Andrea Conti
New AC Milan right-back Andrea Conti has highlighted Dani Alves and Cafu as his two role-models.
The Italian defender is just one of many new signings at the San Siro this summer as his breakthrough 2016/17 season in Serie A earned him a big-money move to the Rossoneri.
Much is expected of from the 23-year-old as well as the entire Milan squad next term as they bid to secure a return to the Champions League following a number of years away from European football’s elite competition.
Conti is tipped to have a bright future in the game and has revealed he’s hoping to emulate a former Milan legend.
“Role models? I’ve always admired Dani Alves as a player and Sergio Ramos for the character he has,” he told Milan TV, as reported by Football Italia.
“Cafu? He was a great player and I hope to do at least half of what he did.”
Following the departure of Mattio De Sciglio to Juventus earlier today, Conti will likely be in direct competition with Ignazio Abate for the honour to be Vincenzo Montella’s first-choice on the right-hand side of defence once the new campaign gets underway.
During a standout campaign for Atalanta – in which they finished eighth in the top flight of Italian football – Conti was a constant threat down the right as he scored eight league goals and also provided five assists in 33 appearances.
