Juan Foyth denies Mauricio Pochettino talks amid Spurs links

Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth has denied claims he has held talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential transfer but admits he would like to play in Europe in the near future.

Reports over the weekend have indicated that Spurs are keen on a move for Foyth, who is one of Argentina’s most promising young centre-backs.
The 19-year-old has only appeared a handful of times for current club Estudiantes but has also been reportedly interesting Roma amid speculation that he has a £5.69m release clause.
But, while confessing a desire to ply his trade in one of Europe’s top leagues in the future, Foyth has insisted there have been no conversations with Tottenham about a transfer, and talk of a move is simply speculation.

Speaking to Radio Continental Foyth said: “No, no … I’ve never spoken with Pochettino or with anybody from Tottenham
“That’s something I read on social media, that my agent or Veron would be travelling or something like that I read … but I haven’t been told anything about that. I usually intend to speak with my agent when there is more concrete things.
“I would really like to play in Europe and opportunities doesn’t present very often so if something comes out that is good for the club and for myself, I would be pleased.”

Tottenham are yet to make any signings this summer in the transfer market and judging by Foyth’s comments the teenager won’t be a potential incoming player for the north London side.

Who is Juan Foyth?

Foyth is being reportedly targeted by two of Europe’s leading clubs in Spurs and Roma but why is the young defender attracting so much attention?

The 19-year-old showed his ability at the Under-20s World Cup, which ended last month, and while Argentina didn’t make it through the group stages Foyth still looked impressive.
The youngster has only played seven times in the league for Estudiantes but has shown a comfort in his passing, as well as a knack for defensive play.
