Leeds will make clear Giuseppe Bellusci’s future within seven days – Christiansen

Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen has revealed that a decision on defender Giuseppe Bellusci’s future at the club has already been made.

The centre-back spent last season on loan at Empoli and has been linked with a move elsewhere.
Bellusci featured for Leeds in a 5-1 friendly victory over Guiseley yesterday but was booed by some of the club’s supporters.
The Italian joined Leeds in 2014 and there were suggestions during his first couple of seasons at Elland Road that he was a negative influence in the dressing room, while there were also claims that he was one of several players to feign an injury before a game against Charlton Athletic in 2015.
Christiansen told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “I like to give them all the opportunity to show themselves. They have all had that. Now we will start taking decisions because players will arrive and some players have to leave.
“We have taken already our decision (on Bellusci) but I don’t want to come out now saying what we will do. You will see it through the week.”

Leeds are set to head to Austria on a pre-season tour later this month and whether Bellusci is selected for that trip will provide a major indication regarding whether he is part of Chirstiansen’s plans for next season.
Bellusci averaged nine defensive actions per game in Serie A last season, while he was successful with 56% of the headed duels that he contested.
