Liverpool signing Mohamed Salah “wasn’t very classy,” says new Roma boss

Roma‘s new manager Eusebio Di Francesco has criticised Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Salah for a comment he made on on social media.

The newly installed boss at the Stadio Olimpico took exception to the recently departed Egypt international’s comment on an Instagram post by Kevin Strootman, who was bidding farewell to Antonio Rudiger following his transfer to Chelsea.
Over the weekend, Strootman wrote on Instagram: “Good luck to my bro @toniruediger at his new club.
“I’m gonna miss our fights in the training sessions and our discussions in the dressingroom. But especially we are gonna miss you on the pitch.
“Ps. I hope that this will be the last goodbye of this summer.”
Roma teammate Radja Nainggolan replied to the post saying: “I don’t know.” Before now-Liverpool midfielder Salah also joined in with his comment: “The time for Radja now.”
Di Francesco was less than happy with Salah’s comment which hinted Nainggolan would be the next to leave the club, calling in to question his integrity after he was allowed to leave to join Liverpool this summer.
“It wasn’t very classy. He wanted to go to the Premier League and could’ve kept quiet,” he told Sky Italia, while maintaining he wants Nainggolan to stay put this summer.
“Nainggolan’s a top player and we want to hold on to him. It’s mine and the club’s objective and we’ll certainly have him at our training camp in the US.
“He has very important quality, he knows how to break up play and attack. These are qualities that a ‘mezzala’ must have.”

Nainggolan, Rudiger, Strootman and Totti in action for Roma last season.
Rudiger completed his move to Premier League champions over the weekend for an initial fee of £29 million, while Mohamed Salah and Leandro Paredes have left for Liverpool and Zenit St. Petersburg respectively and the legendary Francesco Totti has also departed.
Roma finished in second place in Serie A last season, four points adrift of champions Juventus, but new manager Di Francesco faces a tough task attempting to replicate that feat next campaign.
There have, however, been some arrivals at Roma this summer, with new sporting director Monchi bringing in Hector Moreno, Maxime Gonalons, Rick Karsdorp and Lorenzo Pellegrini.
