Turkish side Basaksehir have confirmed that Manchester City have opened negotiations over a move for young star Cengiz Under.
Under established himself as Turkey’s brightest young talent last season after establishing himself in the Basaksehir first team. The 19-year-old scored seven goals and provided five assists in 32 Super Lig outings, helping his side secure an impressive second place finish.
The attacking-midfielder has also scored twice in four appearances for the Turkish international team, having made his debut in November.
Under had reportedly been a target this summer for Tottenham but now the teenager’s current club, Basaksehir, has revealed that Pep Guardiola’s City side are in talks over a move for the player.
The club released a statement on their official website that a meeting was held between the officials from both sides, but stressed that no agreement had been reached for Under’s transfer.

The statement read: “There was a meeting between our club board members and the officials of Manchester City Club of England for 4 hours about the transfer of our young player Cengiz Ünder.
“An agreement has not been reached yet after the negotiations.”
City have already secured the signings of Bernado Silva from Monaco and goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica, and a move for Under would represent a continuation with Guardiola’s policy of signing young talent.
