Huddersfield Town have confirmed the signing of defender Mathias Jørgensen from F.C. Copenhagen on a three year deal.
Jørgensen becomes Town’s eighth permanent signing of the summer and the club’s tenth acquisition as David Wagner looks to bolster his squad ahead of their first season in the Champions League.
The defender – nicknamed Zanka – impressed in the Champions League last season, averaging 10.3 clearances per match which was the most of any player in the competition.
The five-time winner of the Danish Superliga and the Danish Cup has now agreed a deal with Huddersfield until 2020.
Speaking on the deal head coach Wagner told the club’s official website: “Matthias is another very good signing for our club as we prepare for our first Premier League season.
“He is a very complete defender with great experience of being successful in every league he has played in, which served us well with the signings we made last season too.
“His athleticism and football intelligence will be big assets in the Premier League, for sure, and he is a super professional character, which will fit in with our current group of players very well.”

Jørgensen previously played for PSV before moving to Copenhagen in 2014, helping the side to win the league and cup double in the last two seasons.
Zanka is Huddersfield’s second defensive signing after Scott Malone moved to the club from Fulham earlier this week, in a summer where Town have smashed their transfer record four times already.
