Montella pleased by Fiorentina striker Kalinic’s public expression of his desire to join Milan

Milan coach Vincenzo Montella has revealed his delight following Nikola Kalinic‘s decision to go public on his desire to sign for the Serie A side.
The Fiorentina forward has been constantly linked with a move to Milan following his fine form in Serie A last season and recently admitted in an interview he wants to join the European giants.
Milan invited the striker’s comments while confirming the Croatia international is an ‘option’ for the Rossoneri.
“Kalinic? The club and I like him from a technical standpoint. He’s a player that we like, but we’re weighing up so many options for individual roles. He’s an option,” the Milan coach told reporters at a press conference (via Football Italia).
“I was pleased that he expressed himself publicly, I’m sorry for Fiorentina, but to us, it was pleasing.
“Everything has been done out in the open, we have great respect for Fiorentina, he’s a possibility and a player we like.
Fiorentina’s leading scorer in Serie A last season with 15 goals, Kalinic also caught the eye with his link-up play, creating 34 chances for his team-mates.

The 29-year-old has an average pass accuracy of 78% in Serie A, while he has often proved too difficult for opposing defenders to deal with, as demonstrated by the fact that he has been fouled on 65 occasions.
An experienced player, Kalinic has been capped by Croatia on 35 occasions and there would surely be no shortage of interested clubs should he be made available.
Currently in seventh place in Serie A, Fiorentina will conclude their season with games away to Napoli at home to Pescara, but it remains to be seen whether Kalinic will still be at the club next campaign.
