RB Leipzig reiterate hardline Naby Keita stance as Klopp predicts “difficult” transfer window

Liverpool‘s pursuit of Naby Keita has taken a huge blow as RB Leipzig have reiterated their stance that he won’t be sold during the summer transfer window.
The in-demand Guinea international has emerged as a top transfer target for the Reds once again following a string of impressive performances in the Bundesliga in the season just gone – helping Leipzig qualify for the Champions League.
However, upon the unveiling of France Under-21 international Jean-Kevin Augustin from Paris Saint-Germain today, Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick gave Liverpool concern in their attempts to lure Keita to Anfield.
“We will definitely not be letting any key players go,” he said.
“There’s nothing that will make us budge.”
Klopp predicts “difficult” transfer window
Rangnick’s comments come on the back off Jurgen Klopp predicting the Reds will face a difficult transfer window as they seek to land Keita as well as potentially resurrecting a deal for Southampton central defender Virgil van Dijk.
“Of course the transfer market opened a few days ago,” Klopp told the club’s official website.
“Yes, it will be a difficult one, maybe it’s getting more and more difficult, especially in England.
“But we have made a lot of good things so far. If you cannot see it so far, you can imagine we have done a lot of things behind the scenes.
“Sometimes you need to be patient and that’s what we are in the moment – to wait for the right moment and then we will see what happens.”
So far this summer the Merseyside outfit have bolstered their squad with the signings of Dominic Solanke from Chelsea as well as former Blues winger Mohamed Salah and there’s still well over a month for the club to do more business.
