Real Madrid and Barcelona both in contact over Dani Ceballos, confirm Real Betis

Real Madrid and Barcelona have both made contact over the availability of in-demand midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to Real Betis president Angel Haro.
The 20-year-old Spaniard was named the Player of the Tournament at the recent Under-21 European Championships in Poland at which La Roja were triumphant.
According to reports, Ceballos has a £13.2 million release clause in his Betis contract but both Real Madrid and Barcelona may be forced to exceed that figure in order to fend off each other’s interest.
“For the moment, we are planning towards the new season that he will be our player,” president Angel Haro reporters on Thursday (via Football Italia).
“We have had calls from both Real Madrid and Barcelona to express their interest in Dani.
“If he tells us that he doesn’t want to stay at Betis then we will work on that.
“We understand that he will get back to us soon as we don’t think he’ll need so much time to make a decision.
“He will have some days of holiday and will make a decision and at the moment his future does not depend on us.”
The 20-year-old completed 87% of attempted passes at the under-21 Euros over the summer and weighed in with one assist – for Saul Niguez in the 3-1 win over Italy in the semi finals.
Ceballos may have only netted twice and recorded the same number of assists in 30 La Liga appearances last season but his ability on the ball caused opposition defenders plenty of concern.
Across the entire top flight of Spanish football only Barca pair Neymar (162) and Lionel Messi (115) won more take-ons than Ceballos (79) while the Spaniard was also the second most fouled player in the division (116).
