Tottenham ‘keeping tabs on Riyad Mahrez’s situation at Leicester’

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Riyad Mahrez‘s situation at Leicester City amid a bid for him from Serie A giants Roma being rejected.

The 26-year-old forward was linked with a move to Spurs in the winter only for him to remain at the then Premier League champions.
However, according to the Evening Standard, they’ve rekindled their interest in the Algerian winger though manager Craig Shakespeare hopes he remains a Foxes player beyond the summer.
“We want him to stay,” he said. “I would like him to stay, as manager.
“As I say, he has stated his case clearly but, while he is here, I need that full commitment.”

Riyad Mahrez created 50 chances in the Premier League last season
His breathtaking 2015/16 campaign, which saw him register 17 goals and 10 assists as the Foxes claimed an historic first championship, saw him being named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
However, across 36 league matches last season he only managed six goals and four assists as Leicester meekly relinquished their crown, though he remained their most creative player having created 50 chances.
Mauricio Pochettino is yet to see to see his side make a major acquisition this summer, but is reportedly looking to bolster his wide options, which explains their interest in Mahrez who has three years left on his present deal.
